Hot applied waterproofing is a monolithic rubberized asphalt waterproofing system that can be installed on either horizontal or vertical surfaces. The membranes that aren't reinforced are typically 180 mils thick. The reinforced membranes are generally 215 mils thick, reinforced most often with polyester membranes.
Cold/liquid applied waterproofing is a broad-based statement that can apply to the installation of many types of waterproofing products over many different applications. Cold applied products are installed using moisture cured products, which can be installed over damp or green concrete or air-dry systems that need to cure by being exposed to the air. These systems can vary in thickness depending on the requirements of the manufacturer. Liquid applied waterproofing are either reinforced or unreinforced using resins of polyurethane or epoxy. These systems are often installed in water fountains, roof decks, green roofs, and critical pedestrian/traffic locations.
